About Me

I am a roboticist driven by curiosity and a lifelong passion for building and understanding how things work. I was born in Patras, Greece 🇬🇷 which is my mother's hometown, and grew up in Athens, in the neighborhoods of Plateia Amerikis and Palaio Faliro. My summers were often spent in Alexandria, Egypt 🇪🇬 where my father is from, giving me a multicultural upbringing that greatly shaped my perspective and my continuous desire for exploring.

In high school, my love for physics and mathematics sparked a desire to contribute to society through engineering. I aced the national entrance exams and pursued Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras. There, I discovered my passion for control systems, automation, and robotics. I joined the Systems and Control Division and worked on my diploma thesis titled "Development and Control of an Advanced Robotic Tool for Minimally Invasive Surgical Operations", becoming an active member of the university's robotics group under the guidance of Professor Anthony Tzes.

Childhood

After completing my integrated Master’s in 2020 and fulfilling my military service on the island of Kos, I worked as an automation and project engineer at Rockwell Automation (I.C. SYSTEMS) in Athens. There, I developed SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, and worked with PLC technologies. My desire to delve deeper into robotic research led me to pursue a Ph.D. at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in Sweden, under the AERO-TRAIN Marie Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) - European Training Network (ETN) project, supervised by Professor George Nikolakopoulos, chair of the Robotics and AI Team.

My research focuses on edge-enabled and cloud-enabled autonomous robotic systems, aiming to close the loop of control over networks with communication, compute, co-designed and control strategies. I’ve worked extensively on dynamic resource allocation using Kubernetes for multi-agent systems, enabling resilient, efficient, and coordinated robot performance. I’ve also contributed to aerial manipulators and 5G/6G-enabled robotics through multiple EU and Swedish funded projects.

Alongside research, I teach industrial automation and robotics at LTU, mentor master’s students, and coordinate research efforts within my team. I’ve been involved in organizing workshops and representing the robotics unit at events, earning recognition such as being featured on IVA’s 100 List. I'm also the CTO and co-founder of Eighth Dimension, a startup transforming off-the-shelf drones into autonomous systems for real-world tasks.

Army & Work

Outside of work, I’m passionate about both playing and coaching basketball. I love traveling and exploring new places all around the world. I enjoy summertime activities such as swimming, diving, and sailing, while embracing snowboarding and northern adventures during Swedish winters. Spending quality time with family and friends remains one of my greatest joys.

Driven by curiosity, I am aiming on building a future where intelligent robots empower society.
